they say the public transit's pretty good here
but the airline lost my bag with clothes and photographs
so i bought a grey suit in the strip mall

when the cops kicked in your door
i was driving to the airport

got your cherry creek address from a friend
but figured i'd better let you come to me
at least this room's got a microwave

while you were rattling your chain
i was getting on an airplane

thought if i explained it to that face i know so well
you could be made to understand
so i bought 2 weeks at the golden hours motel
just 8 miles west on colfax
i watch tv and hope that
time's turned you to the sort to reminisce

on the bench by crown hill lake
the sun looks like a balled up fist
at least i saw the art museum -
there must be so much to do here!
